Tackling Labour Exploitation Amongst Refugees: A Free Course

A new course on tackling labour exploitation amongst refugees and asylum seekers in the UK is taking place in Leeds. Details are below:

Friday 20th February at 9.30am – 3.30pm, One Community Centre, Cromwell Street, LS9

This FREE workshop is aimed at any refugee community organisation, asylum campaign group or individual from a refugee or asylum seeking background working with and supporting refugees and asylum seekers at risk of labour exploitation. The workshop will help you to:

  • Understand why refugees and asylum seekers are at risk of forced labour and exploitation in the UK.
  • Identify signs of forced labour, trafficking and other forms of labour exploitation.
  • Consider options and responses available to both affected migrants and you.
  • Think about how your organisation can help to improve information, awareness and support for refugees and asylum seekers in precarious labour situations.

The workshop is part of the Platform on Forced Labour and Asylum http://forcedlabourasylum.org.uk.  There will be invited speakers from the Citizens Advice Bureau, Unite Community, GMB union and West Yorkshire Police.
