It is 30 years since the closure of Yorkshire Main Colliery at Edlington and the destruction of a once vibrant community. To commemorate this anniversary, the Yorkshire Main Heritage Trust are holding an event at 10.30 am on Saturday 5th September at Edlington Top Club to unveil and present a replica of the 1920 union banner.
A timeline of the colliery’s history will also be inscribed a on a large stone in the corner of the club’s garden. Speakers from the labour and trade movement will be present, and there will be entertainment throughout the day.
Further details can be found on the poster below as well as in the Heritage Trust’s newsletter, which can be read on the following link. Further details of the Keep the Faith Gig planned for 1.30 pm can be found here. Please support this event if you can.
