Ken Loach: social security sanctions as ‘conscious cruelty’

The well known film director, Ken Loach, is currently making a film, I, Daniel Blake, about unemployment, sanctions and food banks. He has given an interview to the Guardian in which he describes the social security system as one of ‘conscious cruelty’, of being ‘vindictive’ and in which ‘hunger is being used as a weapon’. He calls on the Labour to do more to hold the Tories to account on this one. You can read about the Guardian interview here.
