FirstLeeds Workers strike over ‘pitiful pay offer’ as FirstGroup profits reach £105.8 million

Workers went on the first 24-hour Strike today, over a pitiful pay offer from FirstLeeds. Members of Unite the Union, the biggest union in the UK with 1.42 million members, went on Strike at Hunslet Park and Bramley.

Negations with ACAS the conciliatory service took place on Wednesday, but the offer was insufficient. Bus Drivers, who face the huge responsibility of the safety of all the passengers travelling on their buses every day, have complained about low pay for many years.
Phil Brown, Unite the Union Representative and workers want negotiations to continue, however no date has been set for future Negations.

Shares in transport giant FirstGroup rose more than five per cent after the group reported an 80 per cent increase in statutory pre-tax profits to £105.8 million for the year to March.

FirstGroup revenues amount to £6.05 billion in the 2015 year to March.
