Event will be in the Regent room. From Briggate continue onto Lower Briggate and under the railway bridge. At the junction of Call Lane and Swinegate, turn right and the Cosmopolitan Hotel is immediately on your right, opposite the Malmaison Hotel.
Local residents (and those from surrounding areas) are invited to attend this FREE event, giving you the opportunity to ask parliamentary candidates in the Leeds area what their proposals for human rights and digital rights under Brexit are.
This event is kindly supported by Amnesty International – Leeds and Global Justice Now – Leeds.
Please arrive at the venue from 7pm for free refreshments, the questions will start at 7.30pm and finish at 9pm.
Each candidate will be given a maximum of 5 minutes to outline their position on human rights and digital rights, followed by a few prepared questions on the following subjects;
– Privacy and mass surveillance (Investigatory Powers Act)
– Freedom of expression / the press (Espionage Act proposals)
– Position on Human Rights Act / European Convention on Human Rights
We will then invite questions from the audience for the remainder of the evening.
We have invited candidates or representatives from the parties contesting the Leeds Central constituency.
